Enoch12:00 AM on Sunday, Apr 14th, 2013
From the righteous line of Seth – Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam. His father was Jared. He had prophesied that judgment would come to the earth and also the return of the Lord.
14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.
The conditions that existed in those days are quite real today and these same judgments are on the earth today.
When Enoch was 65 years old, he had a son who he named Methuselah, which in Hebrew language means, “when he is dead it shall be sent”. After his birth, Enoch turned to the Lord and walked with him for 300 years and then God took him home. This was a long time for a man to support a holy life and communion with God without any relapse. This is the first example of God's rapture of his true believer.
*People have trouble walking with the Lord for 1 day let alone 300 years! That is amazing! We can live up to this with the Lord's help.
It is after a change in life's circumstances of having a son that caused Enoch to turn to God. It took the birth of his first-born son, Methuselah, for Enoch to realize that he needed God's wisdom in raising his son. He knew that after his son's death, God would judge the world.
Questions and Things to Think About
1. What challenging situations did it take to get your attention and realize you needed God's help and wisdom?
2. Do you have a good relationship with your family and neighbor?
3. How can you improve the relationship with any person(s) that you may have a problem with?
4. What is your relationship with God?
5. How can you improve your relationship with Him?
You need to realize that the world's population, at the time of Enoch, was about as great as ours is today. People lived for hundreds of years and they had many children. They multiplied and covered the earth.
The earth was one big land mass that later was separated when the flood came and broke up into many different landmasses. If you look at the globe, you will notice the land masses fit together like a big puzzle. In the beginning, God intended that man would live together in peace and unity with God and his fellow man.
